Baptism
Baptisms at Sacred Heart, Ilkley and St John Fisher and St Thomas More, Burley in Wharfedale
“In moments of darkness, baptism is light; in life’s conflicts, it is reconciliation; at the hour of death, it is the gateway to heaven.” Pope Leo
It is a joyful thing for parents to approach the parish for baptism for their child. Their child is, first and foremost, being baptised into the parish community although it is, of course, a great time of celebration for their family as well, who may see this as a way of welcoming them into their own family too.
Baptisms usually occur on Saturdays or after Mass on Sundays (at around 12.45pm at St John Fisher and St Thomas More and at around 1.15/1.30pm at Sacred Heart).
To arrange a baptism please speak to the parish priest (Fr Timothy Swinglehurst) to arrange a meeting to discuss the baptism of your child further, either after Sunday Mass or 01943 863179 (timothy.swinglehurst@dioceseofleeds.org.uk).
It is possible to have your child baptised at Our Lady & English Martyrs, Addingham but please speak to Fr Timothy about this.
